About Functional Medicine of Tennessee

Meet Julie Perry, NP, FMACP

At Functional Medicine of Tennessee, we believe that healing starts with understanding the root cause of your symptoms—not just managing them.

Hi, I’m Julie Perry, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in functional and integrative medicine. With over 25 years of experience in internal medicine and endocrinology, I’ve helped countless patients reclaim their health by addressing hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, metabolic issues, and more.

I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to feel dismissed, unheard, or stuck with generic solutions that don’t work. That’s why I take a personalized, root-cause approach—because you deserve more than a one-size-fits-all treatment.

Why Functional Medicine?

If you’ve ever been told your labs are “normal” but still feel awful, you’re not alone. Traditional healthcare often focuses on treating symptoms without uncovering what’s really going on beneath the surface.

  • Identifies the "why" behind your symptoms

  • Looks at your body as an interconnected system

  • Uses advanced testing to find hidden imbalances

  • Focuses on long-term healing, not just quick fixes

By addressing hormones, gut health, metabolism, and inflammation together, we help you achieve lasting wellness—not just temporary relief.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is all about getting to the root cause of your symptoms instead of just treating them. It takes a personalized, whole-body approach by looking at how your genetics, lifestyle, and environment impact your health—helping you feel and function at your best.

How is Functional Medicine Different from Conventional Medicine?

Instead of simply managing symptoms with medications, functional medicine asks why you're experiencing health issues in the first place. By identifying and addressing imbalances, we focus on healing and restoring your body naturally.

What Conditions Can Functional Medicine Address?

I help patients with a variety of concerns, including resistant weight loss, thyroid issues, hormonal imbalances, chronic fatigue, digestive problems, metabolic health, and more. If you feel like something is off but haven’t gotten answers, we take a deeper look.

What Can I Expect During a Functional Medicine Consultation?

We’ll start with an in-depth review of your health history, symptoms, and lifestyle to uncover what’s really going on. From there, I’ll create a personalized plan tailored to your needs—whether that’s hormone balancing, nutrition support, or targeted supplements.

What Treatment Approaches Do You Use?

Every plan is unique, but I use a combination of functional lab testing, nutrition and lifestyle changes, stress management, high-quality supplements, and holistic therapies to support healing. The goal is long-term wellness, not just quick fixes.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Everyone’s journey is different, but many patients start feeling better within weeks. Sustainable health changes take time, and I’ll be here to guide and support you every step of the way.

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance, but HSA/FSA funds can be used.

Do you offer in-person visits?

All consultations are done virtually, so you can get expert care from anywhere in Tennessee. Julie Perry, NP, only sees patients who reside in Tennessee.

What if I’ve already tried everything?

Most of our patients come to us after exhausting traditional options. Functional medicine offers a different approach by looking at root causes instead of just symptoms.
